Well made piece - better than expected

We were looking for a reasonably priced sofa table or buffet for our foyer and found this lowboy. Clean looks cherry finish and mission style were what attracted us. I believe it is constructed of Rubberwood (Parwood) and is made in Malaysia.



Pros:



1) Good quality finish - wood and stain.

2) Lots of spare hardware - all separated by type in different bags.

3) Clear instructions and easy to assemble.

4) Not made in China! I hate Chinese junk.

5) Securely packaged with lots of foam - ships in two boxes to keep weight down.



Cons:



1) Expensive shipping (approx. $60)



Not fancy by any means but overall a great buy - very pleased.

seller needs to inspect product before shipping

This product arrived with a serious finish flaw right on the top piece. This frankly makes it very unlikely that I will ever buy a product of this type online again unless I can return it locally. This unit had it been made in a country where labor is decently paid would surely have been either repaired or labeled a second.



Next day: if it were possible to edit my star rating I would bump it up to 3 stars because Home Decorators service is so good. I filled out their online survey yesterday noting the above complaint. Within an hour or so of filling out the survey I received an email from them offering service & a $30.00 discount on any future purchase. This on a Sunday on memorial day weekend.More detail ...

Big Look for a Little Price

Let's be real here - at this price you aren't buying fabulous well-made furniture. What you DO get for the money is a large console/buffet which looks pretty good. It's average quality particle board and the back piece is painted cardboard - but the cardboard isn;t structural so it's fine. You can also leave the back off if you prefer. I just finished putting mine together and the drawers slide well the finish is nice and it's perfect in my crafts room. It would be equally at home in a dining room entry way or any other room. All the parts were included. The instructions were fairly good meaning I was able to put it together in about three hours. I'm happy enough with it that I'm buying another one.More detail ...

Sturdy Attractive Useful

When we moved into our new house we found we needed some extra counter and cabinet space. This lowboy has been wonderful. I am able to store all of my pots and pans in it-8 6 4 3 2 and 1 quart pots with their lids 5 frying pans and six stainless steel bowls-with no problem. Watch the color

Just received the unit ordered in a light oak. Be aware that the color shown is NOT the color you will receive. The color is more like an orange a real orange color much like the old pine cabinets of the 50's. Doesn't look like the picture nor any kind of "light oak" I've ever seen. I purchased two of these cabinets one for my kitchen as a pantry and one for my bathroom to hold towels and bathroom essentals. I love this cabinet. It so so beautiful everyone who comes over comments on just how great it looks. It is durable and the price makes it a steal. This is a Steal

Target.com was actually selling this one for awhile (I ended up buying mine through Creative Interiors anyways though - it was less expensive even with shipping.)



At one time I do recall that this Buffet was advertised as having a Butcher Block Top (which now 'more accurately reads' Butcher Block Top Look.) It was for this reason alone that I initially made the purchase but thank goodness I did. Had I known up front that I wasn't getting Butcher Block I would have never given this Buffet a chance.



If you have a small Kitchen or are in need of some additional storage space - this is something I would recommend hands down. For the price you get a piece of furniture that looks like it's worth far more than it is ($150 is nothing for a buffet.)



In the large cabinets you'll get adjustable wooden shelves. Very sturdy and great for storing away kitchen appliances. I manage to fit my bread pans dual sized toaster George Forman Crockpot cutting board my large braising pan blender and beater - with some room to spare. The smaller cabinet to the right fits my large Tupperware (that I store dry rice in) and my rice cooker - again with room to spare. I keep a small tool box in one of the drawers and the other drawer is just a collection of odds and ends.



Again... as the top is not real Butcher Block don't get any ideas about slicing and dicing fruits and vegetables on it. However it does do a great job of simulating real Butcher Block (which matches the Butcher Block trim on my counter tops) and it's easy to dress up with a decorative bowl filled with fruits. The back of the buffet is pressboard (keep it up against a wall no one will know) and the drawer runners are made of plastic (which concerned me at first but they manage just fine.)



Assembly is required. You'll need a screwdriver hammer and some patience. I'm 105 pounds and managed to wiggle walk this up my front porch and into my family room on my own (heavy box) and had it fully assembled in about 2 1/2 hours. It would probably take less time with an electric screwdriver (and save you a blister or two.) Takes awhile to get the cabinet doors to properly align (hinges offer a lot of tweaking room) - but they'll line up fine if you're diligent.



By far - the best piece of inexpensive furniture I have ever owned.More detail ...
